"the R7 260 is an 8845HS / 7840HS in disguise..." [notebookcheck.net]

AMD playing their naming bs again... and here I got excited for a new cpu that I'd never heard of... 🤦 ♂️

Nothing new to see here. Carry on.

Both AMD and Intel need to simplify their CPU naming. This is getting ridiculous having to spend 30 mins understanding where a CPU falls.

I tried to reduce the pain by mentioning that it is a Zen 4 and Hawk Point in the spec section.

So many streamers I watch have been doing videos on this PC this week. Minisforum must be throwing stacks and stacks of money around. It was funny watching a retro gamer try to sell me on this by running the Sims though.

Not on this one but the AI X1 Pro (Posted in SD as well). That PC is actually a very nice and interesting one.

I have been looking to upgrade from the 7735HS which after about 30 minutes of playing any game starts to get hot and performance lags. I am guessing this wouldn't be that big of an upgrade?

Its not a huge upgrade, but I'd try to get you temps under control and you'll see much better performance. Might need to repaste the cpu or change performance in the bios.

What mini pc do you have? Ram?

This seems to be up my alley as ive been on the hunt for a lab PC to run VMs and docker, etc. This seems like an upper-mid tier option that checks a lot of boxes. Anyone doing something like this and want to share your thoughts?

These are great unless you plan to have need for hard drives. SATA connection is superior to an external USB connection.

I'll stay away buying directly on their site. Place an order for nab9 on December 21 2024. Delay due to custom clearance, warehouse move, worker not familiar with order, holiday. So many email back and forth until they ship out on Feb 1. Package returned due to hazardous. UPS return package back to their warehouse, then no updated, package lost. They won't refund until warehouse receive return package. Why ? Disputed to paypal, no feedback from seller. Wait until March 10 to get money back.
Its the answer for question how miniforum has money to throw around.
Have fun to get their shitty support.

It is a Minisforum UM773 Lite. It is a known issue for them with the heat soak on the memory. It has 32gb of ram and a 1tb WD black 980 M.2 SSD.
