I paid $49.99 on Amazon for the 6 cup with the stainless steel inner pot. The 6 cup model with the stainless steel inner pot (no steamer) is $32 right now. Good for those who want to avoid non-stick. https://www.amazon.com/AROMA%C2%A...B007TNXYYA
what does it do better than this kind at cooking rice? I ask genuinely as I've owned that kind and the op deal kind and I prefer the op kind because it's much easier to clean the lid, no hinge to hide starch/bacteria.
also mine is also stainless steel rather than nonstick so i don't have to worry as much about messing up the surface, but that isn't as relevant as these both have that kind of coating.

It's aluminum. It's not a good product if you intend to use it frequently.
They're all aluminum, I have several going back to the 70's, from Japan, this is how they've been making them forever. The only thing that's changed is the non-stick coating they started adding to them. And I use mine at least twice a week and it hasn't worn out yet.

Out of all the versions I could have picked, the one that was recommended the most (outside of the very expensive and more high tech models) was this brand.
I have the version without the dumpling steamer. It has been perfect. If you follow the rice rinsing instructions and fill the unit properly, you get rice the same quality every time.
My family really likes how easy it is to get fresh cooked rice.
I have the 6 cup version of this and love it! The same lid fits both the top and the lower rice maker, too. It allows you to steam veggies, fish, chicken etc. while cooking the rice or you can make rice only One button operation makes it simple to use.

What is the price you paid for it?
