Nor familiar with Micron, but the reviews and the Q&A on best buy confirm that it has an open slot. One user states that they threw in additional 32GB and the laptop recognized all 40GB
I bought one of these as an open box for around $175 a few months ago for a family member. It's an excellent everyday computer at prices like these. Yes, you can upgrade the ram (it comes with 8Gb soldered and one free slot). I immediately threw in a 16GB stick I had lying around to take it to 24GB, and swapped the SSD for a 1TB I had lying around. Also, you can buy a small usb-c to barrel adapter to charge this laptop via usb-C for very little money. If USB charging is the only thing holding you back, that's silly. These adapters are tiny, and work very well.
Again, this is a great everyday laptop at this sale price.
Would be an instant buy for me if the USB-C port could be used for charging. Barrel plugs seem like they would be more expensive to put in a computer than it is to add power delivery to a port, but I really know very little about the cost to make a laptop.

looks like you can upgrade the RAM (1 open slot, other slot has 8GB soldered in) and upgrade the SSD to 1 TB

A pretty good starter laptop, for basics, as it is, if you don't want a chromebook. Only caveat is, with only 128GB SSD, that will fill up quickly, especially with photos, videos, music.

Would've bought if it could charge via USBC. I'm not carrying around an extra brick.

I love Asus laptops. Never have issues on their cheap models. I don't know about their more beefy models.

While I agree you can get an adapter for cheap... Having to have a special adapter/cord in my bag specifically for this is kind of a pain.....

Tech is not my thing, could you share how to transfer files, especially operating system when you swap a larger SSD?

Purchased this laptop a while ago but only opened it today and I just added a an 8GB stick that I also purchased with the laptop few months ago. It definitely has an open Ram slot and it came with an 8GB onboard memory. All it took was 5 mins to unscrew the 10 screws and Voila...

On the other hand other hand several "verified" BestBuy buyers say otherwise.
Haven't seen any images that prove it one way or another..
I bought this exact one few months ago.
There is soldered 8GB RAM, but also an empty SODIMM slot for upgrade if needed. No problem at all to make it 40GB totally (8+32).

TN panel. Don't expect too much. I could just say it's not the worst TN display in the market currently. At least FHD and 250nits.
