For those with a PS5, the PS4 version has a free upgrade.

Just started playing this on the PC the other day and there's a very slow start to the game (lots of cut-scenes,) but if you stick with it, it's a great deal of fun.

That is the case for the whole trilogy. Every game is a slow start but ends epically. I'd buy the whole trilogy if you're new to this series.

Me a year ago: "I don't want to start a whole new franchise and add even more games to my backlog... I'll just blast through the main story and skip all the side quests and then not play any sequels."
70+ game hours later: "I don't want this game to end..." *buys Infinite Wealth*

From what I understand, all the previous Yakuza up until this one follow the same main character, Kiryu. This game introduces a new main character (Kasuga) and storyline although many characters from previous games still appear (this was my first Yakuza game). The sequel, Infinite Wealth, follows this game's characters/story.

This is wholly independent to the earlier Yakuza games. There are some references and guests from the old games, but you won't lose anything not having played the old games. This is easily one of my favorite games ever, and one of the best protagonists.

Additionally, this is turn based and the earlier Yakuza are real time hyper intense fighting.

Such a fun and ridiculous game that has a great story and characters. Ichiban kasuga is hands down my favorite video game character. Everyone should strive to be like him.

Completely agree based on my first 8 hours in the game. Also all of the old gaming nods are just a fun addition to the game.

I know that I'm going to have to buy Infinite Wealth as soon as I'm done with this...

Ah man, only 8 hours in. You're in for a ride my friend. I wish I could play this again for the first time.

Infinite Wealth actually follows the story of both Kasuga from this game and Kiryu from the other games in the series. I haven't played it yet though to know if it's helpful to play the Kiryu games first.

I've only played LaD so far, but from my understanding it's:
Yakuza 0 - 6. Brawlers focusing on Kiryu.
Like a Dragon: turned based RPG with a new protagonist, Kasuga. It references events from earlier games, but is fine as an entry point
Like a Dragon Gaiden The Man With No Name. Brawler focusing on Kiryu again. Take place at the same time as Like A Dragon
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Turn based with both Kasuga and Kiryu. I've heard it's best to play the other Kiryu games for a more impactful story, but not essential.
Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Brawler focusing on Majima, who is a major character in the Kiryu games and is playable in Yakuza 0

I've dabbled in the brawler entries, but haven't been able to get into them. I may give them another try because I am playing Like a Dragon right now and loving it
