Keep hoping GamersNexus will do a follow up on the 140. Steve reported in the cooler round up they removed the cooler from their roundup due to QC issues.

Just about 6 mins in if timestamp doesn't work for you.

One of the best CPU coolers you can get for under $100.

Probably not your issue, but I want to add that my dad built a system with a larger cooler a couple years ago. He installed the heatsink the wrong way around, pushing it down toward the expansion slots. When I was visiting, I corrected it, and moved his videocard to the full x16 slot.

I'm not sure if the PA140 has an offset, but the 120 did. People should make sure they install large coolers correctly.

I got this a couple of months ago. It's a little louder than the noctua equivalent. I might of gotten a defective unit but it did not keep my 9800x3d very cool. No over clocking or undervolting and compiling shaders for various games would hit between 85-90c for me. Ended up returning it.

I was considering this cooler for my 9800X3D. Will have to look at more reviews that use it.

Doesn't really seem like a deal compared to historical prices

I just got the Phantom Spirit 120 model. Phantom Spirit is updated Peerless Assassin with an additional heatpipe

I don't have any issues with my cooler on a 9800x3d. One of the fan bearings started to go bad, but amazon replaced it in a day.

The phantom spirit 120 se is $35 and is ever so slightly cooler and not as bulky.
Pretty sure the PA140 beats the PS120... I think you were comparing the PA120 vs PS120 in which you are correct.

I'm so tempted to buy one of these, but I already got 3 or 4 backup CPU coolers not currently being used. Stuck between a rock and a hard place 😂

Thanks for this, I had no idea it existed. I'm getting it instead of the SE

The fans aren't the same shape or size. I can't help but think that'll create extra noise. 🤔

Price on this is fine, YMMV on sizing. This thing is large enough that it conflicted with the video card on a cheap build I was doing for a friend. Ended up going cheap AIO instead.
What board was this? I have it installed on an itx board next to a 3090 and there's plenty of space, so I'm curious what the board layout was of the one you found that had interference.

A mATX B650 motherboard with an Asus Dual 4060 Ti card. The edges of the metal clips that attach the fan to the radiator add about a millimeter to the sides, which was enough to get in the way of the card. Also, the fan on the side of the RAM needs to be offset upwards a little bit, otherwise the RAM gets in the way. Close, but not quite. Thermalright makes an AIO that is nearly the same price as this fan, so I swapped it out for that, works great.

FYI these are not great for 5090 FE. The GPU blows right onto this thing in most motherboards and cooks it. I have to upgrade to an AIO for my 14700k

I recently bought some thermalright fans, an RGB 5 pack for under $20 and they're great so far. Been thinking about getting their cooler

Just paid 30 shipped on for the black model, there's a few more unused open box on there.

FYI, this is the newer 140 model. It only came out a few months ago - you have the old smaller 120mm size, which was indeed cheaper.

In either case, not "better" enough to upgrade to. Once one gets to "extremely large cooler" (whether heatpipes or an AIO), the minuscule differences don't actually matter. We're not talking 20C drops here from decades ago, unless someone wants to run fanless with external radiators.
Ahh, my bad. You are correct, my pricing was for the 120mm version. I didn't know they made a 140mm, but that's awesome.
