This seems like a great deal! I thought I would chime in when people argue about brands and their reliability, the reality is all the brands have tv's that crap out all the time. I feel like as far as failing or not is more still to do with just case by case (with all the brands or particular models within the brands)....why do I say that....

I bought the really great TCL P6 series tv in 2018 and it has been perfect/amazing since that day, love the tv and thankfully I have been lucky to not have any issues with it! So because of that I am on board with TCL, their specs/price/picture quality has been pretty amazing. Obviously if people can afford any tv or pay a premium for a brand they trust more, it is understandable at times, but TCL has a lot of great reviews and to counter some comments...I can attest to the reliability at least of my experience with one of their tv's. With that said, now a days its probably important to get a warranty no matter the brand...I feel like companies slack way more than they used to do.

Not bashing TCL, been monitoring other TCL threads, but how does this match up against samsung quality. Don't think it can match samsung price for this size. Please correct me if I'm wrong

TCL strives to bring a quality picture at an affordable price. I'm on my second one (Q6 2023) and the picture is amazing in my opinion. Samsung will always reign supreme but it comes at a cost. But now that the 2025 TCL versions are releasing, I would say giving the top 3 a run for its money.

I'm buying one from Walmart at $760 + $50 shipping. While BB has a better price at $790 if they PM, Walmart has better 4/5y warranty prices at $94/$109 (BB wants $120 for 2y and $220 for 5y and I'm not sure about AIG or even if BB will be around in 5y!). I'm paying on my Amex which gives me 1y mfr and +1y through Amex. But with any electronics it either works forever or it dies 1 day after mfr warranty! Buying the 5y through Walmart using Allstate is better than nothing. Sucks they charge $8.50 tax on the 5y warranty. I thought stuff like that was non-taxable.

$869.68 Subtotal
$ 49.97 Freight shipping
$ 68.97 Estimated taxes
======
$988.62 Total

I have a 2006 Panasonic 55" LCD (paid $950 at BB on Clearance), a 2013 60"Samsung LED ($439 clearance WM) and a 2014 65" Samsung LED ($588 clearance WM) that won't die. However, I need to replace the 65" in the living room with a 4K TV so I can complete my 4K setup (still can't watch 4K movies as ALL of my TVs are 1080p). I want the 98" TCL, but figure I'd start with this 85" to size it up. If we feel we can go bigger to the 98", I can move this 85" into the master.

I did the same thing re: purchasing at Walmart for the much cheaper warranty alone. You are correct that the cost on the warranty is so much cheaper than Best Buy. Also, the estimated annual operating cost of this tv is $82, so ~$22/year for a warranty is not bad when put in perspective. Thanks for the recommendation on this!

This or the Qm7?

The biggest benefit to the QM7 this that it offers a QD-Mini LED setup with up to 1,500 dimming zones. It is significantly brighter in SDR and HDR, as well as better at motion smoothing while watching sporting events.
I chose the QM7 myself after visually viewing both and I'm very pleased with my choice.
To me the difference was significant and after calibrating it using the Rting recommendations, the image quality just looks amazing to me.
