Just put 4 bags in the compost pile, heavy manure smell and very woody , I can see why the price was reduced ! I have some 5 gallon grow buckets from last year that I mixed into it , should be ready to actually use for summer - maybe its not a total waste.

Is this good enough to use in container pots to grow tomatoes or peppers?

No. Woody soil will deplete nitrogen in a process called nitrogen sequestration. It will turn your leaves yellow.

In a container, it's not much of an issue. It's better to have the structure of wood in container soil to provide aeration than not, though one can use something else like perlite instead. Microbial life isn't as robust in containers as in-ground to cause nitrogen issues. Also container plants should be getting additional fast bio-available synthetic NPK anyway, soil in containers should be structurally aerating first and foremost.

Thanks for posting this. Got many bags on sale last year and they were fantastic, compared to miracle gro that has literal garbage in it.

Used this and also miracle grow. Both are good, but this one seems to provide more aeration in the soil with the small wood chips integrated in it. Good quality, haven't found any garbage in it. Good for in-ground flowers, berries, vegetables and herbs.

I have purchased mini bags of the last year and this year along with the compost / manure bags from Walmart and mix those into my raised beds as amendments. I always grow and gigantic gardens,.lots of fruit, and that's all I ever use.

This is not soil. Just opened mine yesterday, and it was 100 percent wood chips, some pretty large, with a very strong pine smell. No soil at all. The pine smell was very strong, and immediately noticeable, so what I got in the bag was ground up pine boards and maybe pine bark. This is probably fine to put on top of garden beds. You don't want to mix it in your soil, as the soil microbes will use available nitrogen to break down the wood chips. I went ahead and added it on top of my beds and added some nitrogen fertilizer to it. I just hope they didn't grind up treated pine boards.

Can you post a picture of what you got, along with the bag?
