The router portion is old tech, but DOCSIS 3.0 is still useable by some cable companies so check your compatibility list before buying. You don't want to buy this if you get speeds over 300mb as you will not get them, and only get the 300 megs. The current DOCSIS standard for most companies is 3.1 and 4.0 is on its way for even faster speeds. For people that do have speed at or under 300mb this will save you a monthly modem rental fee so it should pay off for itself in well under a year.

No, Incorrect. 3.0 as a standard capable of much faster than 300 Mbps. I wouldn't recommend this modem/router if you have over 600 Mbps from your isp.
Not sure where you got your info. Docsis 3.0 has multiple standards and while old is theoretically capable of up to 1 gigabit per second speeds. This product has 16 channels downstream capable of 680 Mbps down and 4 upstreams capable of 143 Mbps, commonly called a 16x4 setup. You can find a 32x8 docsis 3.0 setup good for 800 mbps down and 260 up. It's older tech, but plenty fast for most ISPs in the US.

Go look at Comcast support page for what speed tier the DOCSIS 3.0 standard would fall in then get back to me.... Yes in a imaginary lab environment im sure your DOCSIS 3.0 can get 680Mbps but not in real life. DOCSIS 3.0 is not even the standard for Comcast/Xfinity anymore... Just like how wifi routers can hit numbers never before seen over wireless but never even get close to half those speeds... Just like how power line networking promises gig+ speeds in the home but can only get 10-30% of that if you are lucky. Theoretical is theoretical, real life is real life.
