Finally grabbing it on steam at this price! I've been emulating it for years. Excellent game that holds up.

Zero grinding required in the game. It doesn't even have random encounters like most JRPGs (there's some unavoidable enemies that appear by a trigger, but walking back and forth won't cause a random encounter) so it it difficult to grind even if you wanted.

Gonna vary depending on who you ask. Most people who played the game on SNES first, me included, will say the SNES version. I prefer the less literal translation, the text is more visually appealing and fits the game better, and the additional content is of no interest to me. Most people say the additional content seems very tacked on and doesn't fit the rest of the game. That said, there are mods to insert the original SNES translation into the Steam version, so if you feel like spending a few dollars, that's the best option apart from just emulating the original IMO.
Mobile, DS and Steam are all essentially the same.

Does this port have the cutscenes like the PS1 version has? I keep hearing left and right to avoid this port and this port being fine?

The one on steam does have the cut scenes, it crashes my comp often but when reloading it doesn't lose much progress

Honestly the only port I would avoid is the PS1 port. The loading times between battles is game breaking. You can watch the extra scenes on YouTube just as easily.

I've been playing the Steam version and it's great.

This is one of best RPGs and the battle system makes it for a very fun experience.
