Yes, the 14400 has had overvolting and stability issues. Intel's microcode updates should have addressed this issue, but only time will tell if that was a definitive fix.

I believe it's a coin flip whether a 14400 uses Alder Lake or Raptor Lake silicon, but they would likely face less issues from having fewer cores and lower voltage than say, a 14900K. But you want to install all the updates as Aragorn said.
