You will want to have a new actual branded SD card, and load with ArkOS. Instructions here: https://joeysretrohandh
I got this for my 4 year old. He loves playing platformers, so I loaded it up with some classics plus Pico 8. I don't have to worry about microtransactions or him seeing something sketchy on YouTube, but I also don't have to sit right there watching his every move.
There are lots of options out there, but at this price point this is one of the more powerful cheap devices. To get something better you're looking at 60-75$.

Basically, any device will handle PS1 and below fine, and they're quite affordable.
Then, for quite a bit more money you can add some GameCube and PS2.
Then, for even more money, you can add very strong GameCube and PS2 performance, and some Switch.
Retrocatalog.com is a good resource for basic stats like you were hoping for.

No video output, right?
Do they make devices like this that double as a battery bank (i.e. provide power output from their USB-C port)? I mean, magsafe would be gravy
EDIT: of course they do
Anyway, thanks OP!
Just given this is a horizontal form factor I'd give this a shot for this price. Idk the specs but I bet they have the same hardware power (most PS1 and some N64).

X55 can handle basically all N64 and stream from PC with 6ms latency using Sunshine and GammaOS

For something similar in this price range, I'd recommend the Anbernic brand over Powkiddy.
Is it because they keep changing model numbers and people can't keep up?
3DS is still Best emulation for Nintendo stuff but obviously if you need PS or n64 you will need better hardware.

Never used powkiddy so I can't really compare.
For just a little more money though, the anbernic rg xx line is better. I got the rg35xx-h and I'm happy with that. This powkiddy looks very similar to it.
But this is a good price and is very portable.
