and the disk version with an Astro Bot voucher code is $450. Absolutely ridiculous. The PS5 is now 5 years old and you still can't get a disk version for under $400.

Nintendo still sells Breath of the Wild, an 8 year old game for full price. Winning much?

The disc based unit with Astro Bot should have been $399.99 for Black Friday. It wouldn't have been permanent, but it would have been better than what was on offer, and a logical follow up to Spider-Man 2 / Modern Warfare III disc unit bundle for $449 the previous year.
I'm glad I took the approach I did - $318.99 for a unit that never was touched, and never even had the cable ties taken off on the USB-C cord or the HDMI cable. Steeper savings than hawking the Fortnite code would have gotten me, and I can now choose when I want to add the disk drive, which will also work down the line on PS5 Pro. The only curveball? PS+ Premium for $99.99 / yr makes so many of my games playable again that I don't even need the disc drive right now.
Market is done. 5 years into a lane console generation. $299 for digital is where it is at. Still, my electric bill is skyrocketing. Cheaper to throw the nerf football around.
Gamepass is king and you know it.....and the next Xbox will natively have steam on it.....and I have the entire PS1 and PS2 catalog on my series X via Dev mode......Xbox knows the way.
