With Starlink connectivity capabilities included with some recent phone models, and that Starlink service being included with some (at least) T-Mo plans, I bet some of these device makers (Garmin/Spot) and service providers (Iridium/Globalstar) are getting nervous. If the device you already have, and the service you already pay for, does what they do, their market may disappear quickly.

It's surely a consideration but speaking for myself, I still want a standalone, ruggedized device for this purpose. Apple too, for example, seems to only let you use satellite if you literally have no cell service - if you have just one bar and that bar isn't even enough to do anything, it won't let you send via satellite so there are still applications for this.

My bigger thing is if there is a version 3 of this near or around the corner?

$15 a month in July for T Mo for most all plans. Competition!
