When you get your key, install the Guild Wars client to activate the product or redeem it.

Unless you have made an account in the past and want to add the key to that account to "complete" any existing product, you're better off doing a new account and adding your key to it.
You can use your same email address for your GW account as you do a GW2 account. Better for consistency's sake.
The game took 2 1/2 hours.
