I've lived in South American countries that heavily tax imports in an attempt to boost their own economies. Guess what tariffs don't do? They dont cause businesses to build products in country, it just makes everyone pay more because all the items are still imported after literal decades of tariffs.

It's been tried else where and it doesn't work.

Quote from OliveBoundary7135 :
Hmm, I am not familiar with the actual spec here; however, I have read in reputable places like Anandtech things like the following:"In the v3.1 spec, it is specifically noted that power excursions are permitted from the 12V rail of the PCIe slot. Thus, the 12V rail on the PCIe slot can experience spikes up to 13.75A for up to 100μs (equivalent to 165W). Previously, the limit was a mere 5.5A. The 12V rail can be boosted for up to 1 second using a logarithmic formula included in the new ATX 3.1 specification (Table 3-1). No power excursions are permitted on the 3.3V rails."https://www.anandtech.com/show/21...u-review/2
There is a section on "power excursions" as well, although it is just a reference to the PCIe 5.0 and 5.1 specs. It is not new (was absent before PCIe 5.0) but they did add a specific 12v reference. Was previously used to require the PSU to be able to provide twice its total rated output for 100 microseconds, and so forth. Now it specifically defines requirements for 12v AICs to a lesser degree, but every even slightly decent PSU prioritizes 12v as is, providing up to its entire rated output just for 12v. In my opinion after reviewing the spec, there should be no scenario where, given you have a power supply that is of sufficient wattage rating, that a 3.0 unit will be inadequate relative to a comparable 3.1 unit with respect to voltage, power, and transient requirements of current and foreseeable graphics cards to come. Hopefully didn't come across as a know it all Smilie just wanted to give my thoughts as I see it.
