Great deal if you have a need for 2100 yards of 80#. I only have a couple of conventional reels that I can put 80# on, and I believe they'll only take about 300 yards.

What size reels? I need to restring my 8000-12000 surf fishing reels but have always used 65lb braid so I'm afraid 80lb mono won't give me enough line.

For those not big in finishing, this does not weigh 80 lbs, it's not mass times gravity of the line. That's the rated tensile strength.

I only put 80 # on bigger conventional reels. 80# is what you might put on a Penn 50 Wide for big game fishing for stuff like Tuna or Marlin. I don't have any big game reels, but I've got a bigger Penn Squalls and Shimano TLDs that I use for bottom fishing for snapper and grouper and trolling for kings that I intend to put 80# mono on. It's a little much for those reels but it will work. For spinning reels I always use braid, because the diameter is so much smaller than mono, and you don't have to worry about getting a backlash like you do with conventional reels. Conventional reels are prone to black lash and with braid, it's very difficult to untangle. Mono will untangle much easier. For those big spinning reels, I would probably put 50 to 65 # braid, but load it yourself. They'll charge you a fortune in a tackle shop. Hope that helps.

Trout season will soon start in my area. Is this line a good choice to respool my Zebco?

It's better to use when fishing for bedding bluegills with poppers.

I run 65# braided on my catfish poles. I would like to make the switch to 80# but the size of the monofilament is definitely a minus. I have had the 65# line broken once from a fish and I am still annoyed. LoL
