I have the 779 upgraded with the shadow line, and I don't know if I could ever go back. I love it. I only have two complaints on this and that is the dust collection is useless (but most miter saws are bad, right?) And also the clearance needed in the back. If you plan to have this on a counter, be prepared - it needs room. Otherwise I don't see myself upgrading until this dies

I got the Rigid stand around the holidays and it's been excellent. I wanted something with wheels, so it's definitely not as portable as those collapsible stands, but way easier to roll around with the saw attached. I use it with my 10" Skil miter saw.

The Ridgid is the best for portability and features but I think the days of getting the big discounts of the past are over.

I have the 779 as well. They've jacked up the price on the upgrade. Want to do it but been holding off

I also have the DWS779 upgraded with shadow line kit. The saw is sitting on a Bosch t4b gravity rise stand, which appears to be similar to the Ridgid foldable stand.

I've owned 8 or 10 miter saws over the years, and a few different stands, and this saw is easily the best, and so is the stand. If I had to replace it one day I'd try to come as close as possible to this setup, including the shadow line.
