Great place to visit... very compact and explorable and one of the few places you can take in ancient history (temples older than the pyramids), early Christian history (knights of Malta, St John's Co-cathedral), and WWII history (map rooms, etc.). Good food, nice beaches... just an interesting place...

Great deal. Malta is relatively inexpensive compared to most of Europe and can be explored in a week without feeling rushed. It's a great mix of culture, history, friendly people and great dining opportunities.

The capital city of Valletta is a massive castle/fortress complex built on a peninsula that juts out into the Mediterranean Sea. If you like history and ancient cultures this is the place for you. If you hit the streets there is a veritable cache of beaches, restaurants, cafes, museums, opera houses, palaces, churches, etc to whittle away your time. Definitely a place to visit.

Plan on retiring to this island. Too bad this is from Chicago. The culture is a mix of Italian and Arab and most speak English.

I'm seeing $550 through Turkish Airlines website.
Always better to book direct, IMHO.

If you go look around for a small black statue of a falcon. For a price I'd be willing to take it off your hands.

I would boycott anything coming out of Turkey for sometime after what the ruling party did last night. Fly something else somewhere else and do not support political oppression.

Sorry, Sydney, but it's fake. Fake! Made of lead!
But you can buy the stuff dreams are made of on amazon in full-size heavy resin for under 200 bucks https://a.co/d/4KBMipO I may someday do that myself!

Turkish airlines is a publicly traded company, not fully owned by the government (majority of the ownership remains within non-state shareholders).

Also, with that logic, I doubt you will be able to fly anywhere…

Thanks to OP, I am going to Turkey and Malta for Thanksgiving 2025!
I ended up on Turkish website and there's a Turkish layover option. I have been meaning to visit Turkey for the last 6 years!
4 days in Turkey and 3 days in Malta airfare was exactly $1700 for 2 adults and 1 child (2.1 years old).
On to hotel and attraction research! Recommendations welcome!
