sharing this info for I was looking it up myself

11th gen introduced in 2025, 6gb of ram w/ the A16 chip
10th gen introduced in 2022, 4gb of ram w/ the A14 chip
_9th gen introduced in 2021, 3gb of ram w/ the A13 chip
_8th gen introduced in 2020, 3gb of ram w/ the A12 chip
_7th gen introduced in 2019, 3gb of ram w/ the A10 chip
_6th gen introduced in 2018, 2gb of ram w/ the A10 chip

I was looking up this new models ram for my 2021 9th gen is long in the tooth with only 3gb of ram. Works great for some things struggles with others. For this price I may be upgrading soon.

(was also considering some of the 8" androids with 8gb of ram for $150 to $300 depending on which model)

Great deal! I'd rather purchase from microcenter than Amazon!

Any computer or tablet will ship with two types of memories: RAM and storage. Most people refer to RAM when they say memory. This tablet ships with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

RAM stands for random access memory and is used when the device is doing work. A device with less RAM tends to be slower. This iPad has 6GB of RAM. The current top of the line iPad pros ship with 8GB of RAM for the 256GB/512GB versions and 16GB of RAM for the 1TB/2TB versions. I think 6GB RAM for this version is definitely sufficient for non pro tasks. The previous entry level iPad (10th gen iPad) had 4GB of RAM.

Storage is what is used to keep your data on the device. This includes pictures, videos, movies, music, apps, the OS, and other things. I think 128GB of storage is plenty for a tablet. If you need more storage, you could use iCloud, keep your extra data on a USB C flash drive, or buy the version with more storage (256GB for $427 on Amazon).

In short, I think this tablet's specs are sufficient for the average user.

Too bad I only use mine to stream videos. Will never need an upgrade.
If you are only going to stream videos then you should go OLED.

Confirmed Best Buy will price match. Just used some certificates to get a free iPad! They asked for my zipcode, and verified Micro Center showed it in stock. Sent a link and invoice for the same price. 5 minutes to save $35 bucks ain't too bad. Did it all via Chat.

Only apple fans will think a 35 dollar discount is a deal.

Just how it is on SD nowadays... A 10% discount and micro-center isn't good on anything yet these deals keep hitting fp. Of course if you're locked in then this is decent for a new (but what people don't mention is pretty iterative) upgrade. It doesn't have much over the 10th gen except extra RAM, a new processor, and more support, which won't impact YouTube videos or Netflix videos on flights...

If you are OS agnostic there are OLED Android tablets which are better for media consumption (what most people do with these) and have expandable storage with a similar support life such as the S10 Ultra, the issue is there aren't many Android tablets in general so low end iPads dominate.

The Pixel Tablet is a fair bit cheaper right now but it doesn't have any notable strengths over the new iPad besides an OS better tailored to ad-free media (YT, Spotify, Reddit, etc) and third party video apps.

Edit: iPad Air deal seems far better, dunno why these mid deals keep getting upvoted....

its actually a $15 savings.. Walmart selling it for $328.86, Sams club selling it $329, But $15 is still saving money if you are close to a MicroCenter

This new iPad is not made in China—it's made in Vietnam! It has a common issue: there are dust particles underneath the screen (or just bad pixels). I noticed this problem when I was trying to apply the screen protector. I went to the Apple Store and opened two new ones in a row—both had the same issue. Finally, the fourth one had no dust.

Good deal. Out of stock in Houston location.
There was only one and after the store opened yesterday it was gone. Same in scenario for Dallas.

My 10 yr old Ipad air with 128GB is sufficient for my needs. I do not think IpadOS is powerful enough to do the my regular task like photo & video rendering or coding Better off with an actual computer. Save yourself some money and buy a laptop. Apple should just make a laptop with a detachable touch screen that you can use apple pencil like what Microsoft has done. Just get rid of the ipads.

Doesn't seem like a bad price for a brand new ipad 11th gen. One of the best aspects of these cheaper ipads is the fact that since it doesn't have a laminated screen, it's much easier and cheaper to get the screen repaired. Perfect if you're getting an ipad for someone who is prone to dropping their device (please don't buy your toddler an ipad)
I have 9th gen one with shattered screen. Where can I get screen replaced for cheaper and what would be the cost?

This is a security issue-it is easy for a bad actor to install a backdoor on such an old unsupported device that lacks modern security updates.

If you're in the market for a new iPad, this seems like a solid deal! The A16 chip and 6GB of RAM should make it pretty future-proof for most users

Thanks OP. I ended up grabbing the last one locally. I've been toying around with using it for Sidecar to act as a wireless presenting device (PPT/Keynote presenter notes & confidence screen, while being able to advance slides and potentially annotate, as well).

My old iPad was starting to burn through the last 50% of the battery pretty quickly, which always seems to be what fails first on these things. Hopefully battery tech keeps getting better...annoying that it creates so much e-waste when the rest of the hardware is still perfectly fine.

Ipad is very optimized and multitasking is very limited in nature. Does not need ram like Android devices. 6gb ram is plenty.

I am happy with our 9th Gen for $159 and 10th Gen for $179 from AAFES/PX/BX. Could not see spending more. I have an 11 year old Air 2 (no more updates) that still rocks.
I have had great deals from Micro Center though.
