I'm assuming this has plastic tubing on the inside for the hot water? Trying to limit my exposure of plastic with hot water lately so trying to be more informed before purchases.
I side-graded from the Breville Barista express (8 years old) to this one which was given to me as an unsolicited gift. I've tried them both side by side and I think I am pretty representative of your average user.

The Breville was really hard to get decent espresso out of at first, and by decent espresso I am just saying that it is comparable enough to a coffee shop for me to not have the daily desire to skip it and go out and get a $5 latte. Once I bought fresh beans from a roaster that were under 1 month old I got it humming pretty well. It was a pain to figure out grind size, tamping pressure, etc to the point where I went through a couple pounds of beans before I got there. I could never quite get the steam wand to produce quality frothed milk, so we ended up buying a separate frother for that purpose. Can't say whether that is user error or the machine, but either way it's not easy.

I've used the Ninja with the same bean type, and it took way more pulls than the 3 they advertised to get it dialed in, but far less than the 1lb+ it took on the Breville. I'm a big fan of the cold-pressed for iced coffee and the milk frother system is top notch. Perfect milk every time, including cold foam, with no learning curve at all since it's all automated.

Overall I still think the Breville slightly outperforms the Ninja in espresso quality but the user-friendly features of the Ninja and the fact that it also replaced drip coffee for the older generation when they visit pushed it over the edge for me. I have now retired the Breville.
Same as previous FP but retail price and GC both went up $50, so a bit more tax. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/1062259

Tempting, but I still have my Philips 3200, still going strong after two yrs of daily use. I'll just wait for the next version with a built-in tamper and hot water spout for Americano, tea.

But will there be one with hot water spout for North America? I am waiting too but I heard the hot water spout is a europe only model ?

Thanks. Saved me some money with this not having a water spout.

I have the 3200 - it's been a PITA
Frequent water leaks and need to send it to Phillips - their customer support is horrible

Supposedly later this year. I want one of these, but i want the single shot basket also, plus the built in tamper, and hot water dispenser. It will cost more, but I would like to have these few features.

what happens to spent fgiftcard when you return the product?
I'm sure their systems can do the math and deduct the gift card value from the return.

This video shows the internals of the Ninja and the Breville side by side.

We have had ours for three weeks and are loving it. For the past five years I've been making V60 pour overs and Aeropress for coffee. I have quite a few coffee makers, grinders, and gadgets but hadn't dipped into espresso. This does a great job of doing of making a simple and easy variety of drinks. Really impressed.
