Actually it doesn't. On the Walmart website there is a shelf system on top of the wooden storage unit. There is no mention of it being a part of it but there is also no mention on how to order it if it isn't included.

I'm looking for this answer also.

I'm looking also. If it's sold separate which I'm inclined to believe, it should at least have an asterisk that says item sold separately or metal shelf sold separately or not included.

It's not just a metal frame - it has two wood (MDF) shelves. The wood matches the finish of the cabinet in OP's deal, and the metal matches the cabinet's door-pull hardware. It looks really nice together, if you're in the market for such a piece. Not claiming the two together are a deal, just that they match very well.

Got mine today. I like the color but 2 boards are broken from shipping. Btw it weighs almost 100 lbs so it's not gonna be easy to return
