I have the 28-75 and 70-180 and and one of Tamron's best features is every lens in the deal above uses a 67mm filter size so I don't have to invest in multiple sizes of filters.

Also, here are the lowest reputable prices I could find to compare them to online

Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens

Amazon $699
Greentoe $549

Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD Lens

BB, Amazon, B&H, etc $799
Greentoe $549

Tamron 50-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD Lens

B&H $799
Greentoe $599

Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens

B&H $799
Greentoe $599

Tamron 28-300mm f/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD Lens

B&H $899
Greentoe $749

Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD Lens

Amazon $1070
Greentoe $975

Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 Lens

Amazon $1080
Greentoe $999

That 28-200mm is an unknown gem. I have a bunch of fast primes and I never expected this to be my most used lens. Sharp almost edge to edge, no aberrations and virtually no focus breathing for video. I'm still surprised how such optically good lens exist for an all in one zoom and how it is rarely known and the price of it. I paid $800, having used it a lot I would've happily pay $2000+ since there is nothing competing in its space. At $550 its a steal.

Edit: And great AF by the way. Silent and fast.
Only missing thing is the optical stabilization in lens but for a lens with 7x zoom range, that would have ballooned the size/weigh and price. This things weights less than standard zooms. Build quality is fine, nothing to brag, nothing to complain. It is weather resistant.

Tax is included in that price usually as well so that's even more $$ saved.

I picked up the 28-200 last March for $560 from GT. Tempted to get the 50-400 to replace the 28-200 as my bring only 1 travel lens. Wondering if the G2 version is on the horizon though.
Also have been debating on getting the 28-75 G2 as a lighter/more compact alternative of my 35-150mm for family get togethers, which I also travel to.

Yes, in Tamron's terminology, "VC" is image stabilization. So the following do have image stabilization:
  • Tamron 50-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD Lens [greentoe.com] $599
  • Tamron 28-300mm f/4-7.1 Di III VC VXD Lens [greentoe.com] $749
  • Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD Lens [greentoe.com] $975
  • Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 Lens [greentoe.com] $999

I have the 50-400 and I would not want to travel with it. Too big and heavy for travel imo

I have the Nikon 70-180 which is made by Tamron so probably the same lens. It's awesome and so compact for an f/2.8.

It's 2.6 lbs and 7". I think if you're traveling to shoot wildlife that's hard to beat.
