Synthetic is great when you're trying to maximize production and minimize crop cycle times, but it leads to long term damage to the soil. Like, let's say winter is expected earlier than usual this year, and your crop usually comes in a week before winter. You might drop a synthetic fertilizer to speed up development in order to get that crop to produce early vs entirely losing it. A perfectly fine solution for one year, but not sustainable in the long term.

The downside is that your plants will become dependent on synthetic fertilizers, but in many cases, they already rely on supplemental nutrients since they are in pots.
Outdoors I'm using compost and mulch to feed my plants.
Indoors it's a potting mix with limited ingredients. This would give that instant spike needed by the plants
