If you mean Double Edge by DE, I agree that is cheaper, but I have not been able to shave with DE without cutting myself and I have a very good adjustable handle for the DE razors. So, what's the secret?

It's been more than 6 ot 7 years since I started wearing a full beard now; wanted to age gracefully Before that, I used to shave clean.
So after using those Gillette one blade, two blade, three blade, five blade, 10 blade, not sure, I gave up because it was too expensive.
Thanks to SD, there was extensive- I mean seriously massive discussion happening on this forum where people swear by how cheap and good the DE blade shaving is and how good it is for skin and all, so some 10 or 12 years back, I switched to wet shaving with DE blade.
I cut myself so many times initially, tried many blades and handles.
Finally, I settled on a Feather DE Blade from Japan. The Japanese know how to make a sharp blade, and it was still my favorite. Also, after trying several handles, I settled on the Merkur Handle. After the initial cost of the Blades, BTW was very cheap, but Handle was a bit expensive. Still, overall, I used wet shaving with DE blade for almost 10 years and it save me not only tons of money, but, boy, every time I look forward to shaving like a morning ritual, it was fun, I have a good setup of Blade, Handle holder, lather and brush. You need to get used and then you will enjoy DE shaving a lot. Believe your skin with thank you later.
Also, once you go wet shaving with DE you won't go back to Gillette again.

I got these on Black Friday and regret the purchase. Unless you shave daily the blades get totally jammed with hair, and unlike the Dorco five blade system I was using before these, these ones are super difficult to clean the hairs out no matter which angles I put it under the running water, or how I tap/bang it on the basin. I'm tempted to call it a loss and just reorder more of my Dorcos.

One person's opinion but these are trash. I've used Harry's, Dorco, DE razor - and these are by far the dullest. Even when new they don't make clean cuts like the others. I'm using them up until I can get rid of them forever.
I think I have the same conclusion. These are not sharp for very long at all. I reused a Harry's disposable blade for months, only face shaving once a week, and it was fine. These Amazon blades feel good for about 4 uses, then they seem pretty dull.

Dorco is the closest thing to a Gillette razor. These are either a bit dull or not made with precision to make them sharp to begin with. They work, they are cheap but they are not as good as the now defunct Dorco. Not all Dorco's were good but I had a couple that were excellent. They had a bunch of different varieties from 3, 4, 5 and 6 blade razors.
Dorco blades are still around. It's just that they stopped selling direct to consumer and now sell through resellers so their fantastic intro / promo deals pretty much disappeared. They're not really cheap any more but here are some Dorco blades on Amazon … https://www.amazon.com/stores/nod...-bin=DORCO

I agree with your comment about how they're hard to clean. However I still use them and find them of acceptable quality. (FWIW I shave weekly)

IMHO any 5 place razor will have this issue. I used to be a loyal Dorco fan, but their prices have gotten too high after they shutdown their website and started selling exclusively thru amazon.

If you use Gillette… there is a 99% chance that you will be disappointed with Amazon Basics quality.
I got one last year to try out and never used 13 of the 14 blades.

refills also don't include it last time i ordered about 6 months ago

I got a similar deal on this back in November. I assume that's why there's no coupon for me this time (not that I've actually started using those blades yet!).

I own this item. The head of this razor is so broad that you literally can't get at the nooks and crannies - like under your nose.

You might end up needing a second razor with a narrower head to use alongside this one, and if so - why bother with this at all?

Gave up on Gillette fusion over 10+ years ago.
Been using Harry's ever since.
I'm not a daily shaver, but 1 blade lasts me around 6-months.
Check out Harry's Wink

I've used Walgreens store brand razors that were much better than these. I have fairly fine, practically non-existent facial hair and these kept getting caught up and caused tugging anyway. Very disappointing quality.

Yeah, that's annoying. Schick never made a cap for the Hydro 3 at all. Check out the Equate "Stylish 5 Blade" disposable razor next time you're at Walmart. It's the same cartridge and since it's 3 disposable razors in a single package, they may have caps; those would fit the Amazon cartridges.

I don't just use these, I also use the cheaper 3 blade ones and even those work fine.

I watched a video years ago where a guy rubbed his thumb across the blades in the opposite direction of the shave before use to hone them like a knife and even cheapo blades like this have worked great for me ever since.
If you really want to preserve blades, dry them after use and then store the razor in mineral oil or baby oil. Its rust that causes blades to go blunt, not the actual shaving.

I've tried several brands, and despite the cheap sounding name, I'm sold on Dollar Shave Club.
I buy the higher end blades and I will also say that their products at stores like Target are not the same quality as what you get buying directly from them.
I'm also a fan of their shave butter.

Can anyone recommend a good DE shaver? Looking to a good one, but not wanting to spend say $50+.

TL : DR: Some bearded dude visited Japan and found a razor he really likes and looked forward to shaving everyday and his skin thanked him.

Switch to a DE razor, you won't regret it. And it's a lot cheaper than this "deal".
Never going back to that barbarity. I don't care how much cheaper.
