If you mean Double Edge by DE, I agree that is cheaper, but I have not been able to shave with DE without cutting myself and I have a very good adjustable handle for the DE razors. So, what's the secret?

It's been more than 6 ot 7 years since I started wearing a full beard now; wanted to age gracefully Before that, I used to shave clean.
So after using those Gillette one blade, two blade, three blade, five blade, 10 blade, not sure, I gave up because it was too expensive.
Thanks to SD, there was extensive- I mean seriously massive discussion happening on this forum where people swear by how cheap and good the DE blade shaving is and how good it is for skin and all, so some 10 or 12 years back, I switched to wet shaving with DE blade.
I cut myself so many times initially, tried many blades and handles.
Finally, I settled on a Feather DE Blade from Japan. The Japanese know how to make a sharp blade, and it was still my favorite. Also, after trying several handles, I settled on the Merkur Handle. After the initial cost of the Blades, BTW was very cheap, but Handle was a bit expensive. Still, overall, I used wet shaving with DE blade for almost 10 years and it save me not only tons of money, but, boy, every time I look forward to shaving like a morning ritual, it was fun, I have a good setup of Blade, Handle holder, lather and brush. You need to get used and then you will enjoy DE shaving a lot. Believe your skin with thank you later.
Also, once you go wet shaving with DE you won't go back to Gillette again.

I got these on Black Friday and regret the purchase. Unless you shave daily the blades get totally jammed with hair, and unlike the Dorco five blade system I was using before these, these ones are super difficult to clean the hairs out no matter which angles I put it under the running water, or how I tap/bang it on the basin. I'm tempted to call it a loss and just reorder more of my Dorcos.

It's all about the angle of the dangle. I used DE for a while and ended up going back to disposable, the pivoting head makes life easy and I find they work better for me

I've tried more than a few DE razors. I always cut myself badly. To be fair, I get cut with cartridge razor too, but not as bad.

The only DE razor I've stuck with is the one from Henson Shaving. Paired with good blades, I get close to zero cuts. It does cost $70, though.
I like how close it shaves compared to a cartridge razor. I only use my cartridge razor when traveling.

No mention of Schick Hydro 5. Best in my use case, I can't be alone. Have done the usual G, Dorco, DE, Harry's, Defender, etc endless parade of testing. $1.75 per is cheap enough considering my time, comfort, and speed of shaving are valuable. Never mind they give an excellent shave.

I use lots of different razors, but for the past ten years the best all around razor for me is the Hydro5 as well. It's the best mix of durability, sharpness, comfort, clog resistance and handling. The trimmer is better than most as well. Plus they're relatively cheap again on Amazon, after rumors of it being discontinued drove prices to insane levels on eBay for a while there. They have always been available on the Schick website and through their regular sales run $16 for 6, but Amazon have the better deal at the moment, 9 for just under $20. Regardless of where the label says they're made, assembled, etc., the quality seems always to be the same.

Is there a risk of Amazon counterfeits with these? I got the 12 for $20 here recently: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFVL1QQ

edit: just noticed the link I bought are "Hydro" rather than "Hydro 5." Is there a diff?

These Amazon basics blades are incredibly dull. Hated every moment with them.

Pro: You probably won't cut yourself.

Con: You probably won't shave your face.

Find something else - anything else. LOL

These of course are the refills. I didn't mention above that I was talking about the disposables where each one has its own handle. These are the same razors though.

I wouldn't worry about buying counterfeits. What I think most people conclude are counterfeits simply reflect their lack of knowledge and unrealistic expectations about shaving. You could take the same razor, shave the same growth at the same sink during the same daily routine with the same shave cream and come out with two entirely different quality outcomes, even if you know what you're doing. Also, a lot of people judge razors by the outcome of their first shave with it. That's a mistake. Performance for new blades increases for the first 2-3 shaves before it starts to degrade, and that degradation is something many won't even notice for 1-2 weeks using a Hydro.

I stopped shaving years ago and just use a close cut trimmer. Shaving is too much work for me.

Protip: shave immediately after a shower. The hair is softer and makes it easier to cut. Do the same for fingernail and toenails
I'm not sure how much of a "protip" that is as I personally noticed that all the way back when I was a teenager and I'm sure many have also intuitively noticed at a young age as well. It is true though.

FWIW: people who are trying to tell you to use a double-edged razor that's what my dad used for God's sakes. Are you that damn cheap? You can't afford a good razor. Just curious

Amazon has been selling everything that moves off their platform then selling under their name Basics. About 10 years ago, one of my clients was very concern with selling their products on Amazon's marketplace due to this very reason.
