Terramaster is the price leader in consumer NAS. I've owned netgear, Synology, and now QNAP. I would say all have been more reliable, and better app support than Terramaster. So you get what you pay for.
You could also get one of the others for storage, and then a ~$125 Intel N100 mini PC to run Plex and any other services.
I put FreeNAS on mine (I think renamed TrueNAS now). It worked until it died about 2 years in and I bought my Synology five years ago, which has received regular and safe updates.
Terramaster customers (on TOS) have had repeated issues with ransomware/malware.
Nevertheless, their cost reflects their qualify.

The screws to open up the case are in deep holes and I stripped one trying to get it open when I first got it. Had to wait for a RMA to get it replaced, very poor design if you ever plan to add ram / nvme.
I also am not a fan of their OS, its clunky to me, and not intuitive for many things you would think should be easy to do. For example they still do not have a duplicate file finder. https://forum.terra-master.com/en....php?t=793 (the one they have doesn't work to remove files....)
Edit: Just found out they have a new OS upgrade out, and I still have not been prompted to upgrade. https://forum.terra-master.com/en...php?t=6809 So not sure if it addresses the things I dont like about 5.x version. And yes, rather have slower more tested releases - but 5+ months seems to long for beta testing to me....
My background - I have done unraid / lots of Windows server versions (since the old MS home server ), some synology, Mac Server, etc -- and do not like this unit..... Have not tried out Ugreen yet - and HexOS it still to limited for my usage.
AOOSTAR WTR PRO AMD RYZEN 7 5825U 4 BAY NAS
8 cores 16 threads 2x 2.5 network 4x 3.5 bays and you can put 3x m2 drives in the amd model and 2 in the intel I got mine on AliExpress for $310 each for the amd version and put in both of them 64gb ram 1x 2tb m2 and 2x 4tb m2 drives and 4 seagate 26 tb drives
All up I'm about $2000 each mostly drive cost at $300 each for the 26 tb drives and the ssd drives
You can also get it with a N100 for $250 ish
For the price point, you absolutely cannot get anything that even comes close. The nearest thing to compete with it is three times the price the quality is phenomenal. They shipped directly out of China. Mine came Dhl in three days. I immediately purchased another one as a back up and you're talking about the AMD processor is one of the most efficient processors clocking up to 4.5 GHz with a 2000 MHz GPU built-in and only using 15 W. Things I would recommend doing is re-thermal pasting the CPU fan I saw at 20 C drop and temperatures by doing that on both of them.
And for the operating system in my opinion zimma os
And xpnoligy are unbeatable also your not wasting $250 for a unraid license and il add the wave link usb3.0 to 5 GB ethernet adapter. I'm using on both of them and it works perfectly and you can use both 2.5 gb ports on a switch and pull very close to 5 gb I only have 10 gb fiber at my house and airplane hanger wear I keep the second one so I don't need anything faster
I can't see any value in spending the money any company is charging for something close to this before drives with cpu and ram you will pay $1200 or more and you will not get more at all hope this help

Looking at software, I'd say synology > qnap > asustor > terramaster >= ugreen. Terramaster has more features, but they are harder to use, and they seem to provide worse support than ugreen.

So, you are going to lose out somewhere. Synology has the absolute best software and worst hardware. Terramaster is always ranked toward the top in terms of hardware, and the bottom for software. Asustor and QNAP are both closer to the middle for hardware and software.

The N4505 is a dual-core part and TM's website has it correctly specified. Newegg is just… factually incorrect on that.
