I'm guessing that at least the panels they are using were upgraded to whatever latest gen process Samsung has for QDOLED panels.

I own this TV and it is very nice. To my eyes Sony's picture processing is like no other
However it is expensive, and the market has definitely changed since 2023 when it was pitted against the LG G3 and Samsung S95C
As for Sony's next flagship...the rumor mill is rampant including no more QD-OLED
On another note...this is the same price at Best Buy...and there are some open box deals as well for a LOT less
Is this a newer model?
What would be the best OLED on the market these days? I love mine but just curious how outdated it is now. Got it Oct 2022.
Oh and LG has 5 years panel warranty on G5/4.. your move Sony.

It's a great TV, but obviously comes at a price. When it comes to the top of the line (of any product), you can always get better value on something cheaper, you pay $$$ for the best of the best.

You are correct...this TV was introduced in 2023 and it was literally TOP in reviews for 2023 and 2024
However..the field has shifted and so it's not the standout it once was
I own this TV and if you are a picture processing fanatic, I think you will be very satisfied since Sony has the best picture processing out there.
There are people that are and that will pay for that...and this drives Sony's high end TV sales, IMO
There are people that paid full MSRP for this TV( and the bravia 9) and waited for the first units sold
The situation is , today the field is closer..both with LG and Samsung models...but the pricing gap is still significant
Sony is very wonky about discounting, and they treat they top tier Tv's like a luxury brand in the marketing and pricing
Additionally , there is speculation around this new RGB/LCD technology that Sony is being rumored to roll out in 2026-2027. Allegedly it has the brightness of LCD but with the pixel level control( ie..black levels) of OLED
