For people just needing a lot of wood chips and don't care about color, check out chipdrop.com. it's a free way to get a ton of wood chips. We got them twice last year.

Will be interested to observe the WalMart+ free delivery on these 8 bags. I'm hoping they don't make a gig worker stuff this is in their car and rather use the WalMart+ electric van to deliver it. Intrigued at the concept of not having to schlep this stuff home from Lowes this year.

You need to lay down at least 3" thick layer of mulch to form an effective barrier for weeds.

The way to do it is put cardboard down first. You will need a lot less mulch.

Tractor Supply also has mulch 4/$10 right now.

I ordered 36 bags for delivery. Delivery was not free but I had a coupon for free same day/next day delivery (was $69.99 otherwise).

I fully expected it to be delivered with a Tractor Supply truck. Nope. They used Roadie. I did ask the guy (he was very chatty, I helped him unload), he said he got paid $57. But it does tell them the estimated weight of the order and they have a choice to accept it or not (like he knew he needed a trailer for it). I doubt Walmart's does that.

it was in my account under rewards. I used to have a TSC credit card. They'd always give me a bunch of coupons each year, like for free delivery or free trailer rental.

I feel so bad. I'm not home today and the one person (at least 50 years old) who delivered my 8 bags (shipping option not delivery so no way to leave a tip) carried each bag one by one from the truck to the front of my house. He didn't even have a dolly to perhaps do 3 at time. It sucks, I saved a trip but I made this poor man work his ass off 😔

Also $2 per 2cf at lowes, I got scammed by HD with their 1.5 cft bags for $2.50. I can't believe they do free delivery on mulch, I did try to order fertilizer and they did not have free delivery for it and now after we drove to the store to get it they have free delivery. WTF...

Where I am (UT), when I have things "shipped", they come in a truck. It varies whether it's a Walmart truck, or just UPS. If I have it "delivered", it's always a gig worker. The logistics set-up may be different in another region, though.
