18ga (brad) nails are used for finish work. I mostly use mine for baseboards, door moldings, and craft projects (picture frames).

Framing nailers drive much larger nails, that usually aren't even advertised by gauge (usually 12ga).

The brushless version with a battery pack that included 3 batteries when on sale for $160 before. I'd wait for a similar deal if you don't need it now.

People will also use a brad nailer for shoe molding (as I'm sure you are aware). A pin nailer would be best but a brad will work for that too

This has been priced lower than $99 without battery in the past. Also this is a brushed model.
If you can wait, then get the HP model which claim 60% more power and 300 more nails per charge. Also it's a bit lighter.
I'm waiting for HP model on sale so I can get that and waiting for pin nailer to release HP model also.

I got it about a year ago but I think the same deal has came back at least once since then.

Personally, if I did it over again I'd go pneumatic, not battery operated tho. They last longer and the individual tools are cheaper. Also, they are lighter in weight.

They're also much louder, so your hearing protection needs to be more on point.

You can get the same nailer with a 5" orbital sander for ~$120 with hack.

Have one and love it. I had used paslode trim guns for years(what was provided to me when I started) and I can say I will never miss the paslode fuel stink when changing fuel cells. Battery only is the way to go. I also recently got the brushless version and if you are a pro/frequent use DIY get the brushless. If you only bring this thing out a handful of times a year this version will do just fine(especially if you have more than 1 battery).

Got this for around $70 bare tool. It's actually one of the better Ryobi 18V tools, but wouldn't pay $124 for it. I've used it for many projects beyond just nailing down moldings.

I had the version before this one and it was traaaaash. Wife got me this one and it is significantly more reliable and fun to use. I assume due to the nature of the tool, it does like bigger batteries.

Could I use this to nail down one or two planks of engineered hardwood that is slightly floating/loose? Or do I need higher gauge?
