I don't think this CPU is a good buy in 2025. If you need an APU today, Ryzen 5 8500G is $148 any day of the week and beats 5700G's GPU performance while matching its CPU performance.

If you can wait, spend a bit more for an 8600G. Its $189 now but may drop back down (or go on sale) for $169. I feel like that would be a better value.

I bought this a month ago, and I can see the difference after replacing a 3000G

Valid comment. But this is on an am4 platform, I bought a 5600x for around $110 and the 5700g is well priced if under $100-90 (Amazing for emulating anything below ps3 specs)

But to recommend the 8600g in this instance is so nonsensical. New motherboard, new Ram, In a sense, a new setup and you might as well go on a pc parts picking.

If you are on a tight budget and stuck on the am4 platform and don't have or need for a dedicated gpu buy a 5700g instead. If you have a dedicated gpu just buy the 5600x or ryzen 5 x3D version, You won't need anything more above that to squeeze in any value on am4.

If this is not for a new build, it's a complete waste of money.

I am afraid to think what CPU one may be on for a 5700G to be an upgrade. I am a frugal guy, but if one's budget is so tight that this would be an upgrade, I'd save the money for the bare necessities and would invest my time and effort into improving my lot in life.

You're talking about a whole new platform... AM5. Means new motherboard, and ram, which is more expensive.

This is the best apu that you can buy for the AM4 platform, which is way more common and way cheaper, especially "used".
