I have the 20 ton version of this press and it is a good press but it's short. You will end up building a base for this out of wood unless you like benddig over.

Totally agree. I built a 12" tall base for mine with some leftover 12" ceiling truss pieces and now it's the perfect height.

There have been times when I wish I had the 20 ton, but it has always worked out one way or the other with some penetrating oil or a little heat. Sometimes just leaving a stuck part in a bind for a while it'll pop loose by itself. It sorta comes down to what you want to spend versus the duty you have in mind for it. If you have a 3/4 ton or above truck, or equipment like a tractor or skidsteer, you'll probably be happier with the 20 ton. The 12 ton will handle 90% of weekend wrenching jobs without breaking a sweat.

My tablet was on my bed when I laid on it and now it's bent about 3 mm curved. Will this straighten it out?

So a good price but certainly not something that's uncommon and a "must buy" at this price.

My buddy just got one for $40 at a garage sale - so that's an option

A lot of us have an unwritten mental "wish list" of sorts. That is to say, if a price is posted that is at or near historic lows for that item, then that's as good as it gets, and the trigger can be pulled with high confidence that the deal made is at least very close to the best possible, not considering garage sales or other anomalous one-time sources. I appreciate your research and posting of the data. Obviously 6 years ago would have been the time to buy at $100, but I think we can all agree that price is not likely to be seen again after the events of 2020 and the new tariffs.

Edit: I went back and found when I ordered mine from HF. $120 back in 2009 on a hot deal at the time:
