Avast turned off windows defender, Do I need it?

761 100 March 23, 2025 at 10:43 AM
Have been using Avast. But I noticed it turns off Windows Defender.
Can I have both? I thought Defender was a firewall. And avast was used to scan for a virus

Windows 11 on a desktop PC for home use.

Thanks

Windows Defender is microsoft's built in anti virus. You generally can't use it in combination with another antivirus.
