It's a great low price, but this version of Horrified seems to be one of the less favored versions on BoardGameGeek.
The different Horrified games have some different mechanics, they're not just direct reskins.
Universal Monsters(Dracula and Frankenstein, etc) and American Monsters(Bigfoot, etc) seem to be the preferred versions if you're to only grab one Horrified game. I think you could have a successful night learning these from the rules that came in the box.

Greek and World of Monsters versions are considered to have less clearly written rules and be less balanced / more difficult. Both of these versions have a variety of unofficial and official errata/rules clarification FAQs you'd want to grab before trying to learn.

My gaming group, some of whom can struggle with more complicated games had fun with Universal Monsters through a couple of plays. I have Greek Monsters but have never gotten it to the table. Since I'm usually stuck being the Rules Whisperer for games, it's always hard to bring out a new game when the rules as written are a bit vague.
I have a version of this and it's fun. Not a lot of strategy, but good enough player interaction. We typically play much more complicated games, but still liked this one for a couple of times a year

Figurines are a nice bonus

Agreed. It plays out more like a story than strategy, so it's definitely entertaining in that sense and the pieces are a nice quality too ☺️

Which version do you have? And owning one, do you feel there would be sense in adding another?

It's the Universal horror monsters (https://a.co/d/4MA6jhp) - Dracula, mummy, Frankenstein's monster...

I was thinking it was just reskins, but even if not, you'd only want one version.

It's a great light game. We like to make it a bit more of a story and actually describe how our character "...snuck into the crypt and ended Dracula with one fell strike of a wooden stake, by the light of the candelabra!"

The price is excellent!

We own all 4 versions since my wife loves the series. I wouldn't say there's no strategy involved, but it's definitely a game where you have to react and make the best out the changing situation.

For the price this is an excellent starting point. I would rank the games as follows:

Universal monsters
Greek
Cthulhu
American

If you get the Alien version let us know where that one ranks.

Can you clarify your ranking? Top of list = best or worst?
