I unknowingly (read: carelessly) bought some of the gallon sized Amazon brand freezer bags with that gimmick. I can use them for some things, like storing a brick of cheese after I open it, but still had to buy a stock of conventional ones for most uses. I also found that the quality of the Amazon bags is more that of storage bags than freezer bags. I wouldn't trust them with liquid or anything too moist.
