Okay ya'll. If I actually do this for both islands it needs a total of two weeks right? or do I need to factor in x days for there and back? Also, what budget do I need to factor in for a trip going solo?

I wasn't able to recreate these prices. Sometimes the calendar lists them.

I solo traveled to both islands in 2 weeks (17 days total, including roundtrip flights) in 2022, and that's the minimum duration I'd recommend to see a good amount of each island. I spent 5 of those days trekking in Abel Tasman, and the rest of the schedule was very packed. You lose a fair amount of time driving from spot to spot or flying domestically. Most other tourists I met were taking much longer trips (gotta be envious of Europe's view toward work/life balance).

Budget entirely depends on your dining/accommodation standards and how you plan to spend your time. I spent 5 nights in trekking huts and the rest in cheaper Airbnb/hotels, and my total spend was around $3.7K excluding the roundtrip flight, which was much pricier than this deal. A fair amount of that went toward having a rental car most of the trip to get around. If you're not spending most of your time hiking (free), then I'd imagine your budget would need to be a fair bit higher for alternative activities.
