I've had a couple hick ups with mine but it's been a solid unit for 5 years as well.

The filter replacements are cheap and it's easy to clean what needs to be cleaned.

Just wondering if the descale light is a timed system that lights up with the amount of brews. I've been using RO water since getting my Keurig and lit up after a year. Never descaled the Keurig, but never had a problem. That was two years ago!

These things inevitably break down after a few years. Take a look on Marketplace or Craigslist and pick up a used one. They're only like 20 bucks.

Besides scale buildup, sometimes that could be caused by grounds plugging the needle inlet, or by some K-cups packed with extra grounds, or a weakened pump, or a combination. The light will go out by itself, if the next cup finishes in a normal time.
