For instance, you can install TinyCamPro [amazon.com] and use the tablet as a security camera viewing device. Alternatively, it could serve as a PC status display device via Pitikapp [pitikapp.com]. You can use Fire Toolbox [liliputing.com] to install the Google Play store to get access to many useful android apps as well.
The Fire Tablet will function as an NVR, enabled by TinyCamPro, which supports all major cameras, including Wyze, Tapo, EZVIZ, and more.
You can mount the repurposed tablet on a wall or shelf for 24/7 camera monitoring. Just avoid displaying too many cameras at once—I find that four is a good balance to keep TinyCamPro stable and prevent crashes. Additionally, Software Rendering for the cameras has proven to be the most reliable streaming solution in my experience.

One needs to act fast though. The latest kindle software version (5.18.1) does not allow jailbreak. You can install that version only if the kindle is already jailbroken. But if the kindle is not jailbroken, updating to 5.18.1 will lock out jailbreak. The problem is that Amazon forces an update as soon as you register your kindle (which is mandatory for a jailbreak). No way to start the kindle without it. You can try whatever you want. There is no way around it. Your Kindle WILL update after registration. Luckily, right now the OS update installed right after registration is an older one; so you can still jailbreak the kindle. But I imagine very soon the OS it'll try to install is 5.18.1. And then it'll be a waiting game till the community figures out the jailbreak again.
True but for 20 bucks it works. I just got the 8hd and it ain't bad. If I like the form, I will probably get an android for 100 that's better. Fire toolbox was easy to run and made it work well better than stock.
Again for 20 bucks it ain't bad and does what I need. It is slow I won't argue but I won't be multi tasking on it like my phone.
I used it last night on the hd 8 I just got from this deal and it worked. I wish I could have jailbreak it but close enough

I brought along a HD 10 2019 tablet onto a cruise with downloaded movies on Netflix/Disney+/AmazonPrime and it played back fine. So I think 2021 version will be fine as well. However, if you're going to open up a bunch of tabs on internet browser or Youtube, the device might bog down until you close up those extra tabs or you need to restart the device.
Same thing happens with 2022/2023 versions. They give the devices a paltry 3gb and load a ton of Amazon crap that you cannot disable. Everything except for playback of loaded videos is slow. Even the out off box with latest models and stock apps is excruciatingly slow.
I now use it only to play stored videos. Never buying an Amazon device again in my life.
I had been using my Pixel phone, but the smaller screen size does not make a great experience using the BluOS app.
This 8" tablet works much better for browsing and typing to search for music on Tidal Connect in the BluOS app, and also for larger album art display. I'm happy to use it just for that function for $20.
Also it's only been one night of using it, but for whatever reason I haven't seen any ads yet and it won't let me go to the Amazon app store, which would actually be great since I loaded Google Play Store on it anyway.

Cheapest Tablet I would recommend for a kid is the... iplay60 mini turbo which sells for about $140ish on aliexpress. Plus I would buy a glass screen saver and a kidproof case... about ten dollars each.
It is a 8.4" tablet with 8GB of RAM and 128GB hard drive and has a snap dragon 6 gen 1 CPU/GPU which means it much MUCH faster then the fire tablets... MUCH FASTER. The screen is decent, it has a IPS panel... it also has USB-C 3.1 which means it can do USBC to HDMI out and can be connected to any TV.
The iplay 60 mini turbo is the cheapest tablet that I would consider.
So I have provided the link but please realize that the prices have gone up due to the Trump Tarrifs... NEW PRICE is now $165 with a $5 coupon. I got it for $130 when it first came out (6 months ago) then the price when to 140ish and now it is 160ish (thank you mr trump).
