"TIL that everyone wears Crocs in the 2006 movie Idiocracy because the costume designer had a limited shoe budget, and thought the cheap plastic shoes made by the then startup company were futuristic yet too stupid looking to ever become popular in real life"

President Camacho is a president we need. He found the smartest person to solve a problem they couldn't resolve.

There was real consequences for failure.

And when there was a better leader, he willingly transferred power for the betterment of the country.
When I first watched this part of the movie, it felt hopeful. But looking at it now, it seems like the least believable part. A population as dumb as the one shown wouldn't vote for the best among them, they'd almost certainly choose the worst.

When this came out, I thought it was the weakest of the Mike Judge works. But the last decade has shown that through intent or coincidence, MJ gave the future too much credit. Not sure if that makes the movie better or sadder.

Wife and I quote this movie probably once a week, one of our favorites. Too bad it turned into a horror movie considering the times....sigh

Mike Judge is the modern day Nostradamus

Just for reference this movie is part of the "2000s Must Own Comedy" 10 movie bundle on iTunes. As such I will hold off on buying any individual title on that list because iTunes has some banger deals on bundles from time to time.

Love this movie, but the preview on movies anywhere looks like DVD quality. This deserves a fresh scan and re-release.

I could go for a Starbucks. We don't have time for a h*****b.
Starbucks should take notice, their popularity has been tanking and maybe this would get people back in!

I've noticed that on a lot of older trailers, for some reason it looks like many have been ripped off of a worn out VHS copy. Not sure why they don't clean them up, but the movies themselves always look at least presentable. The trailer condition is no indication of movie video quality.

Some of us at work were talking about how funny the movie is. Co-worker said he and his wife were going to watch it that night. Next day he comes in and says "That movie is stupid. We shut if off after a half hour." Awkward silence followed...
The nostalgia helps... if you were to watch it 'fresh' now, it would be too real and thus stupid.
