This original system was my first system. I wrongly guessed that having a "real" computer was better than a system. The games were always more expensive and much harder to find.

OMG, you and I had the same experience! It's a computer! Meanwhile, all my friends are having fun playing multiple games on the 2600 and all I have is Pac-Man and Asteroids. If there was a silver lining, the graphics on the 400 were almost to the actual arcade versions, whereas the 2600 wasn't even close.

My dad was a "computer nerd" back in the day, so we had the 400 computer rather than a 2600 console. The games were certainly more impressive on the 400 than on the 2600.
When the 400 died a few years later, I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the small box of games we had for it. Luckily, I came across an 800 computer at a thrift store a few years later that works with them.

So cool to see the 400 made it back. I kept the 400 and the failed Jaguar system, but had given away the 1200 and 2600 to my cousins

I still got the original manual and a couple of cartridges along with the console 😀 maybe will sell it when I'm ancient
