1 1/2" entry will let any small bird in. Don't be surprised if sparrows or other birds move in. Wren houses I have made have a hole the size of a quarter.
Do people hang birdhouses? Seems like it would move every time a bird lands on it, the wind blows, etc. Wouldn't they rather have a solid house that doesn't move?

Amazon sells copper colored circular plating that will attach around the entry hole. Woodpeckers and squirrels will work at it to make it bigger in my part of the country.

Some birds will nest anywhere. I had a family of wrens that nested in my screened back porch ceiling light fixture for a few years. They had to gain entry by zipping thru the 1/2 inch gap beneath the screen door. They insulated it with fiberglass batting they pulled from the electric wiring. I spent $20k to enclose it with vinyl windows, better door and tile flooring, no longer an issue, but an expensive fix, lol.
Going to block the hole they use and drill a smaller on on the back side.
Also going to make a template on cardboard of the parts and use that to trace more on to cedar fence posts ($4) and make more of these
All fun until a house wren moves in... then starts chriping nonstop from 1 hr before dawn until sunset. Worst birds ever. wonder if i can make this house into a trap for them

We has a pair nest in our hanging baskets. No shelter, and swang in the wind. Did it 3 yrs in a row. got 3 houses this year to keep them from killing the flowers. have them secure and swinging. They dont seem to care where.

Oh I see that they also say "Unique quality, value and durability of aromatic cedar"
That's a bit confusing but I'm willing to bet they went the cheaper route. Lol. They are basically saying that fir share the characteristics of cedar.
