Just search for anything, like "Amazon, and sort by newest and you'll CLEARLY see everything starts with zero upvotes.
The fact that most staff deal posts result in 0-1 upvotes shows this is still a user's deal site.
If the staff were gaming the system everything would start with at least 30 upvotes as they helped each other's posts.
I would bet they are forbidden (ethics) to upvote another staff member's post or highly discouraged.
