I'm sorry, but so have I. I don't trust that either of our experiences are relevant. I believe that the controller in the current generation are designed in a way that is far worse than any prior generation. So this kit is a good investment.

It's telling me that the promo code has expired. What magic is everyone using to get it to apply?

Because everyone is you! Of course! Lol. Keep reaching.
You proposed the argument that people should save their $4 and buy a $20 extended warranty. While I'm sure warranties are beneficial to the minority, more often than not, they go unused.

Then there's the time after all warranties have expired. $4 tool set and an inexpensive part vs $60-$80 for a new controller, with an extended warranty.

$20 extended warranty??? Where are you shopping and what are you smoking? I suggest you quit both.

It's $8 for the warranty. You assume you can fix it every time. Good luck with that. Lol.

Any other ridiculous retorts?

Would you kindly be respectful. Instead of responding with attempted insults, please stay on topic.

The main retailer I would buy a controller from is BestBuy. Their two year plan is $19.99. However, we can go with your $8 plan, which sounds like a great value as long as they offer free shipping in the replacement.

And no, I don't assume I can fix it everytime. I presume I can. Admittedly, fixing isn't for everyone, just as warranties aren't for everyone. Some people enjoy the challenge and fulfillment of repairing something, while others don't find value in that. Plus, every controller tends to feels slightly different, I prefer the same feel, which is another reason i find value in repair.

$20 at Best Buy does seem quite extreme and agree not the way to go. $7 from Amazon through Asurion. $8 for a 3 year plan if you buy from Walmart. Both include free shipping and you are paid the minute its scanned at the post office when you drop it off.

Now let's address these tools. If your controller is still under warranty and you attempt to open it up and repair it you automatically void the warranty. If you can't fix it you are at a loss. If you can great and it breaks later and you can't while it's under warranty its still a void. Now why even attempt the bother to repair it? So you save $5 and have to spend the time working on it? I'd sooner toss it i. The box, get my money and buy another. I'd be playing again asap.

While it's always a gamble buying an extended warranty with the drift problems it's a good purchase.

Let give you another example. I always buy the extended warranties in my headsets. The batteries never last with daily use or the hinges break. I haven't had to come out of pocket for a headset in many years....only the cost of the warranty.

Buy the tools. It's doesnt hurt. But hope this insight helps.

Thank-you for the reply. You may have sold me on buying an extended warranty at that price. If only to put off the cleaning (while taken apart) for my nine years old's controller. Aside from wiping it down everyday, nasty just gets everywhere.

Cheers

I apologize if I was rude. So many attack that I was on the defensive. You are correct. Keep it clean and have your hands clean will help with the lifespan. Good luck.

Fixed my dualsense drift using CRC QD Electronic Cleaner I already had in the garage. It was an old controller. But yeah get insurance for your electronics especially these PS5 controllers. They will drift.
