The Novita is the best - no question. I was hesitant buying it because the auto open/close seems like just one gimmicky thing to break, but honestly, (knock wood) it's been great. The tankless heat and dryer that can feel too hot at times (when on max setting) is just great. Kohler bought Novita and in theory their E875 is supposed to be a replacement for the bh93, but as I don't own one I can't comment there.
The Moen 5-series is adequate. Not great, not bad. However, it hasn't leaked (yet) so I guess there's that.
The Toto is my son's favorite because it can (when on max) put out the most water. However, it has a relatively small tank for doing so - meaning, mid-winter, if you put that thing on max pressure, it feels like you go from hot to freezing cold water rather quickly. I bought the Toto (it's our newest one) to replace one of our USPAs.
The USPA thing is weird to me. Our USPA 6800 was our first bidet. I bought it (open box from Woot!) in February 2016. I thought it was just gonna be dead about 2 years ago until I realized you can easily remove the nozzle and clean them (soak in vinegar to remove hard water deposits.) Ever since I did that, it's been working as well as it ever has - even 9+ years later.
However, the 6800u, which was supposed to be the "new and improved" version of the 6800 I never liked as much. I don't like the two-sided remote. The spray never felt like it cleaned as well as the 6800, but, it was definitely "good enough." Also, definitely better than the Moen. BUT, its biggest issue was that it (as you mentioned) eventually leaked. I don't know exactly when I bought it or how long it lasted, but it was probably around 4 years. I'm not mad at that "service life" for how much I paid for it, but I am kinda mad it didn't dawn on me that it was the bidet that was leaking (very slow leak) and not the shower next to it. Suffice to say, next time I'll know better.
In summary, I can't criticize USPA too much because the 9 y.o. 6800 has exceeded all my expectations. And sometimes "things just happen."
Also, at this point, I know you mentioned not needing something "high tech" but it definitely has its place. For example, my mom's friend just had shoulder surgery. She just got a Bio Bidet Horizon for two reasons: the auto open/close and having the remote separate have made her life a LOT easier during recovery. Otherwise she'd have been fine with the Toto (with its side panel controls - which I've liked a whole lot more than I thought I would.) I'm not saying you NEED to go buy the most expensive bidet out there, but I've learned to appreciate each and every "high tech" feature for sure - well, except for maybe the Toto pre-mist. I had higher hopes for how much that would help keep the bowl clean, but honestly I haven't noticed a single difference in that regard.
If I were buying one today and funds were tight, I'd look at the CL1700 or maybe CL1500 on sale at Costco ($140 and $70 off respectively.) Or if I could spend a bit more (and knowing I can return it as it's Costco) I'd consider the e875 ($100 off).
Personally, I think any bidet could end up leaking eventually. But even though I've had one (out of 5) leak on me, it's still not something that keeps me up at night. And it's totally worth the "risk" to me.
Thanks again!
It wouldn't matter if we had insulated pipes or not.
So yeah, going from ≈105°F water temp to 50-60°F water temp in a few seconds can be unpleasant to say the least.
The night light is off now, didn't bother to check if busted or setting off. The seat sensor still works so the water doesn't heat up until someone sits on it.
Totally relieved me from TP buying duties as someone in the house just goes through them like it's an infinite run off.

Sounds like baked apples to me.
