Non-inverters are on and off machines. They always draw the maximum current. Either they are on or off. Every time the compressor turns on, it also affects other appliances because they have to use huge current to kick start the compressor. They maintain the desired temperature by turning off and on. No way to tell the compressor to just run at 25% to maintain desired temperature.
On the other hand, the inverter compressor versions is adjustable. It can draw as low as 100w just to maintain the desired temperature setting. I have this AC but with heater and by average, it draws 200-400w blowing just the right amount of cold air. If it's too hot, or you put it to maximum compressor speed and full fan speed, it can draw up to 1300w.

He offered to spit my wifi into both bands, I agreed, and it took him seconds. I now have two networks to connect to, 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz. I am connected currently to 5 ghz.
But here's the thing. Midea Smart Home is still working fine. My 10 smart bulbs and smart plug are still working, all of them advertised to work on 2.4 ghz only.
Like I said, I'm no expert, but I managed, with the help of my travel router at the time (The RV park used to provide free public wifi, since discontinued) I had set up a NAS and a private network. I was so proud of myself.
My current provider was the parks provider. They then offered private wifi at a reasonable fee to tenants. Ten times faster, and even with their locked down router all is well.
Thanks for the feedback. I learned something new.
Which remote did you get? Does your Duo hum/buzz (I'm thinking it could be the exhaust sound. Outside, that unit is pushing serious hot air) at high speed and low temp setting?

I got the RG51G2(1)EFU1
This looks like it MIGHT be the one pictured in the listing. Crazy Midea parts site though, only pictures of cardboard boxes.

I have a 3 story home but single zone HVAC. So even with damper adjustments some of the upstairs rooms get unevenly warm. I got this unit to offset the master bedroom, which also sits over the garage, so it can get 10+ degrees warmer than the rest of the house. So this unit is more supplementing cold air than truly cooling down a 90+ degree room.

"If you are having trouble connecting to your local network, make sure your router is configured with 2.4GHz enabled. Most routers are able to connect the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks internally so all devices can talk to each other. However, the Light Panels will need to be configured on the 2.4GHz network first."

I have good news. I called Allstate the other day to inquire about a previous warranty (your warranty talk reminded me), that I had forgotten the duration of. A washing machine I bought from HD 3 1/2 years ago (It's 5 years). It's "active" on the Allstate site, but I had not "registered" it, which basically means they want a receipt, as I think you posted about recently with your Walmart plan.
Well HD makes it more difficult than Walmart. My "purchase history" says I haven't purchased anything, because it only goes back several years. They also don't mail you a real receipt for online purchases (with the necessary barcode and 14 digit receipt number), so Allstate put me through some hoops.
When I got that resolved today on the phone, I had to ask about the 3 year and 4 year warranties you posted about and that I am considering. If the guy's response is to be believed, no problem with either. He was actually encouraging, not dismissive of refurbished, and basically said "Look we pay the purchase price, no problem". Electronic vs appliance, no problem either according to him.
Now they only know so much. The first phone call the other day (Sonora, Mexico), I got another polite guy who thought their warranties started after the manufacturer's warranty expired. I had to tell him otherwise.
But an Allstate rep has now actually stated that either warranty, 3 or 4 years, is ours to purchase, for a refurbished AC unit, again, if he is to be believed.
Any idea if Walmart or Midea would send the missing parts? This thing is pretty heavy and returning it would be a nightmare.
Update: I decided to try it anyway, and found more problems: adapter should be L+R but I have two Rs, a piece inside is lose so the noice is horrible, my window is just a little too high (~4ft above ground) for the hose.
Now I'm debating on return on replace.

But this is even wilder. I went back to the Walmart page of the AC unit, and under "Popular Items in That Category" is a Refurbished Midea Duo 10,000 BTU, a black one (the single hose one with the solid flap on the closed vent), for $189.00. And low and behold, a 3 year Allstate plan is offered in the listing for just $25.00, and a 4 year plan for $34.00.

That about settles it for me. We are covered.
I did post this as a "Deal", and am of course catching hell for that. It's only the best and the brightest consumers on Slickdeals.
