They just announced that Switch 2 requires MicroSD Express
Won't work in the new Switch.
High endurance are designed to be written to repeatedly, ideal for something like a camera where there are constantly new files being written. In my experience, non-high endurance cards fail much sooner if you try to use them in a security camera or similar.

Is this or the Sandisk extreme better? I'm looking to get a 512/1tb and the baseQi adapter to expand the storage on my MBP

Not sure if this helps or is even comparable because I might just be lucky; I have non high endurance card in my dash cam - 128gb and it's been there for 8 years now. I use the car daily (so it writes and rewrites daily). Live in nor cal where summers are 105F and winters see several days close to 30F.

I had a 64GB non high endurance card in my dashcam, and after a year or so it stopped recording and became corrupted. Naturally I didn't discover this until I went to retrieve a clip. The high endurance 128GB card I replaced it with has worked flawlessly in the years since.

Just for reference

Is this over kill for dash cams?
These are probably TLC flash with 300 cycles on the lower end. So you can get maybe 150TB writes with this card. You can extrapolate this with a 256gb card only doing 75tbw. Depending on how much you drive and how big the video is you can figure out how long it will last. I dont drive that much so 64GB regular card has lasted me 5 years so far.

Endurance cards are probably mlc and have 3-10x the endurance of tlc. We might see qlc cards soon which will probably cut the endurance by 1/3 , but will see them in larger 1tb+ cards.

I'd like to know this as well, thinking of same. And would it be okay to keep it plugged in most of the time? 🌺

Works well in my Insta 360 X4. Seems to keep up with 4k@100fps, 5.7k+@60fps, and 8k@30fps just fine.

Cannot stress enough why you should not do that

I had a 400gb Samsung microsd plugged into my inspiron laptop, where I stored courses etc, and had about ten years (lots of stuff from before getting the card too) worth of stuff I'd taken great pains and money to acquire. Stupid of me not to have a backup, I was careless because these were not documents I created, which I have multiple backups of.

The laptop was not on 24/7, and would power down every night.

One day, the microsd was no longer visible in the system. When I tried to dislodge and 'properly' install it, it wouldn't come out. It was a nightmare to get it out, and I sweated quite a bit, fearing the port was gone.

Only later did it hit me, how much data/content was lost.
