CW deals are rare AFAIK. They stopped giving out coupons as well.
I came upon this deal by chance. Was looking to get a CW and sorted by price, being the miser I am. 😄

great deal! How do you keep track of CW deals? I don't see them quite often.
Get on their email list.

If you want a classic look, yes 36mm really is the best. 38-40 would be average. 42-46 is that really gross 2000s look, like a birdcage hanging on your wrist. But really depends on your wrist size. Everything about CW is pretty cool, on paper and on the eyes. But I've been reading they're really bad quality watches. They break apart etc.
This is completely untrue lol. Of course they have some mishaps with quality control as does every company, but nothing to warrant your assumption on them breaking apart…

I'm not sure how a watch can break apart?. CW uses the same sellita sw200 movements found in Sinn, Oris, etc... their bracelets are way nicer than anything on Seiko under $2,000, and most of their watches are built for 150-300m depth ratings, not to mention their 60 60 guarantee, 60 day free returns, 60 month warranty. Theres a reason its probably the #1 favorite small/micro brand amongst watch nerds.

The rolex datejust is traditionally 36mm as is the rolex explorer. although they are currently offered in 41mm and 40mm as well, most purists would opt for 36mm. really depends on your wrist size though.

42 is totally avg unless you are a smaller man. CW is exceptional quality, I've never seen anyone say otherwise.

My opinion: even though 36-38mm dials are classic in the sense that most vintage dress watches are that size, I do think they are sort of permanently out of style unless you are fairly svelte and also wear a suit every day. Most men nowadays dress pretty casually even in the workplace and a slightly larger dial is a better fit for that look. 40-42 is kind of a sweet spot for the new "never goes out of style" size. Just as the big (44mm and up) watches were a fad, I think sub 38mm dials, while trendy right now, will probably go out of style again and people will wish they had something 40-ish after a few years, unless you're a really small guy (which is fine!). My two cents.

Solid deal! CW is amazing value for money. I had ordered The Twelve 36mm about a year ago and but didn't love it. I had no issues returning it with their 60/60 return policy.
This is a solid deal for a CW watch if you are okay with a leather strap. If it had a stainless steal bracelet then I would buy it. 36MM is small compared to most men's watches but perfectly fine if you have a small 6 inch wrist.

Depends on your wrist size. Lug-to-lug measurement also plays into the equation -- on this particular watch, it's fairly short (42.87mm.) The case is also reasonably thin (10.75mm.)

Recommended to measure your wrist above the bone with a tape measure. This would probably look well-proportioned on a 14-16cm wrist. 17-19cm, will wear small but modern. Will look positively small on a 20+cm wrist. This is just a rough guideline on what to expect, as the radial measurement of your wrist only tells you so much (every wrist is a little different.)

I'm just impressed that Christopher Ward made it to slickdeals. I've been a fan of theirs for a few years, they make classic watches with a modern twist. They've also gone into experimental territory with watches like the Bel Canto, Moonglow, and their SH21 watches like the Abyss and Snow Leopard.

Quality is good but things can happen. Their warranty is good, even honored for secondhand watches, and their customer service is top notch, although as a small company they can make mistakes but are quick to resolve them.

This watch comes with a standard movement so it can be serviced by Christopher Ward and eventually anyone else. I also believe it is compatible with the PT5000 movement which is a cheap chinese knockoff if you ever wanted to go that route after warranty expires.
All that said, this watch is pretty small and not particularly special looking, for cw.

I went down the journey with big watches. I'm now hovering below 40mm, on a 7.5" wrist. 36 is perfect.

A watch can look big when it has thin bezels.
