Hi, I've now owned one of these since the end of last November. Would love to ask anyone else who has one...

How hot does yours run? This is running SIGNIFICANTLY hotter than my SN850x in the same PC, also behind a metal heat spreader. I'm seeing temps of 50 degrees C at idle and it gets much higher after periods of writes.

Trying to figure out whether there's a problem with mine, or this is just par for the course.

To check your temps, use CrystalDiskInfo or the WD Dashboard software.
They are gonna get even more expensive with incoming tariffs.
Back to the SSD itself, interestingly, techpowerup.com says this 4TB version is QLC vs the others 512GB, 1TB or 2TB all TLC. None has DRAM. Can anyone confirm QLC in this 4TB?

AI consumes SSDs at volumetric rates.

Every market forecast predicted this for that good reason.

4TB is QLC. Better off getting a 990 Evo Plus for a bit more.

Shouldn't these be less expensive if they are DRAMLESS?

For PS5, It's a budget SSD without the budget price, so I don't think it's worth it. A 990 pro isn't that much more money.

What sets the 990 Evo Plus apart? What makes it better?

It's a TLC drive on a single sided package; longer life and faster direct write speeds which is important when drives get full.

Same reason all chips are expensive, production limited, fabs still coming online, many in China as well which will help tariff or not as demand is global, but demand will also grow so who knows.
