Sidedeal is an offshoot of meh.com. The guy that started woot.com (which he sold to Amazon) started meh.com and the sister sites such as this one. They're legit but their offerings are more miss than hit.
When I saw the type and quantities of batteries included, I said meh. But when I saw that it comes with 2x (two!) brochures and 2 stick packs, I got super excited and ordered 5.
I'll kind of agree that there are some things I wouldn't use a rechargeable battery for, like something that will last 2 years. I use my rechargeables in devices that would need frequent replacements.

Is it really such a dealbreaker to have to replace batteries once a year instead of once every two years? If so, then I'd still use single use lithiums instead of alkaline. Then they'll last 3 or more years.
The only thing alkaline have going for them is they're the cheapest for the amount of electricity they put out per battery. And they have to be, because otherwise nobody would ever buy them.
