That steam hardware survey gonna be swinging red slightly next month so nvidia is throwing crumbs with these craps 5070's suddenly in stock to keep the market share. They are sacrificing a tiny AI profit to keep the mind share. Don't give it to them greedy SOB's! 8 and 12 gb cards in 2025 is planned obsolescence in a very short period.
There is a reason the 5070 is the only modern GPU selling at MSRP.
yes, the 9070xt

I feel like these will be the new 4060's. Not great performance per buck but pretty much all you can get.
The 5070 can't play anything that uses PhysX 32bit. A 1050 can do PhysX 32 bit better.
Power plugs flaming up on some models.
Defective cores with less ROPs making it to market.
Botched Driver launch that black Screens.

5070
Die Size 263 mm2 at 5 Nanometer
Vs
4070
Die Size 294 mm2 at 5 Nanometer

This means all gains that it came make have to come from better transistor placement and software for better Instruction Per Clock (IPC)

In stock for a reason. They suck vs the 9070, I'm holding out for a 9070xt.

Microcenter had a bunch in today
5080's starting at 999
5090's starting at 1999.99
5070ti from 849
5070 549?(IIRC)
they also had a megaton of 9070's at bad prices
and a few 9070xt

7900xt for 599 with any amd proc purchase too.

OF course the vast majority were the tard price models..

ie the 5070 that cost same as the 5070ti etc.

but there were some near or "at msrp" Deals to be had.

$550 for 12gb.....we are in some dark times.
Remind me again what you're doing with that 24GB of VRAM you think you need?

AI pictures?

The only thing more VRAM has done for gamers is let developers be lazy.

And it's not even solving all the problems they create when you give them crutches.

Best Buy has a good return policy in case of missing ROPs in the GPU.

about 30 - 40% less performance when compared to the 5070ti. I picked up a 5070ti from MSI's website last week for 829.99.

Unless you absolutely need a GPU, I would hold off on buying right now until the shortage lets up some.

Seriously. You don't need more than 12gb for a 1080/1440p card. You're not going to touch 4k with this card and that's the idea.

12gb vram doesn't bode well for future proofing.

A tiny AI profit? Are you kidding, gamers make up like 7% of their business model now. They are making ungodly sums of money selling to data centers and AI. From businesses and governments. Why do you think Jensen mainly talks about AI and datacenters at their presentations, while GPU's are an afterthought?

Future proofing doesn't exist.

You're not going to keep up with development trends by treading water with an older GPU just because it has a ton of vRAM.

The reality is development cycles have tightened, developers have gotten lazier, and prices are only going up.

So you can either pay out the nose every 3 years or buy a reasonable card for games you can play at reasonable settings more frequently.

But doing neither is not going to fix the issue. Just ask people who bought the Titan or even the 7000 series models with inflated vRAM.

For most people, 12GB of vRAM is fine for 1440P and even at 4K if the game isn't lazily optimized.

Don't listen to the BS spewed from Linus Tech Tips and other crappy YouTubers. You'll feel a lot better for it.
