Power plugs flaming up on some models.
Defective cores with less ROPs making it to market.
Botched Driver launch that black Screens.
5070
Die Size 263 mm2 at 5 Nanometer
Vs
4070
Die Size 294 mm2 at 5 Nanometer
This means all gains that it came make have to come from better transistor placement and software for better Instruction Per Clock (IPC)
5080's starting at 999
5090's starting at 1999.99
5070ti from 849
5070 549?(IIRC)
they also had a megaton of 9070's at bad prices
and a few 9070xt
7900xt for 599 with any amd proc purchase too.
OF course the vast majority were the tard price models..
ie the 5070 that cost same as the 5070ti etc.
but there were some near or "at msrp" Deals to be had.

The only thing more VRAM has done for gamers is let developers be lazy.
And it's not even solving all the problems they create when you give them crutches.

You're not going to keep up with development trends by treading water with an older GPU just because it has a ton of vRAM.
The reality is development cycles have tightened, developers have gotten lazier, and prices are only going up.
So you can either pay out the nose every 3 years or buy a reasonable card for games you can play at reasonable settings more frequently.
But doing neither is not going to fix the issue. Just ask people who bought the Titan or even the 7000 series models with inflated vRAM.
For most people, 12GB of vRAM is fine for 1440P and even at 4K if the game isn't lazily optimized.
Don't listen to the BS spewed from Linus Tech Tips and other crappy YouTubers. You'll feel a lot better for it.
