That steam hardware survey gonna be swinging red slightly next month so nvidia is throwing crumbs with these craps 5070's suddenly in stock to keep the market share. They are sacrificing a tiny AI profit to keep the mind share. Don't give it to them greedy SOB's! 8 and 12 gb cards in 2025 is planned obsolescence in a very short period.
There is a reason the 5070 is the only modern GPU selling at MSRP.
yes, the 9070xt

A $550 card "being good for 1080P or 1440P" in 2025 is pathetic. This was possible for the same or less money in 2018. This card and the whole generation is a pathetic showing that was designed to rip off desperate gamers. And this price a from a tier two manufacturer...
To be fair to PNY they make mostly server and workstation cards. They might not be a tier 2 to Nvidia in that regard. So far they're the only manufacturer to actually sell (out in the wild as of lately) MSRP 5090s at $1999 popping up at Walmart and Amazon from time to time during the restocks. That in my book makes them tier 1 to me.

$550 for 12gb.....we are in some dark times.
My 3070 and 3070ti were both >$600 and only 8GB cards.

Just imagine we consumers hold on to our old GPU for another year or so, Nvidia would collapse in prices below MSRP way down. Only reason they still high in prices because we become theirs suckers for so long. Nvidia is such a small company when they started out, now they are bigger than apple, amd and bunch other companies combined. Stop buying theirs product for a while, is the only way we mean business

It's all fun and games until Nvidia decides they've seen enough from AMD. Then the price wars will start. The return of the buyers market will soon be upon us.

Not a gamer. How much better than a older EVGA 2080 Ultra is this?

If you're not a gamer stick with the 2080 until it dies unless you're using it for heavy productivity like video editing, 3d rendering. Office work, day trading, web surfing, that kind of stuff the 2080 is overkill.

I'll stick to my 4090 for now.

So… How are we feeling about this price now that tariffs have actually been announced? It doesn't seem feasible that we'll see this price point again. At least not for a long while.

Unfortunately, the closest Microcenter is over 300 miles from me.

Availability aside, is the 5070 the obvious choice over the 4070S?

The 4070S offers the same performance as the 5070, while also being able to play some of the earlier Arkham games and Mirrors Edge as they were intended.
Okay then show us the RTX 4070 super to buy for less than 550? Crickets? 🦗 ah. It's because they don't exist. So this argument is irrelevant
